In reply to <a href="https://www.rotoscopers.com/2016/01/12/bafta-nominations-announced-for-best-animated-film/#comment-24210">Trev</a>.

Minions was OKAY. Not good, not bad, just okay. The main problems with the film is that:

It isn't that funny as it could've been

The concept of having the Minions going through time serving different villians is a hilarious
concept but it's only in the beginning (which is the best part of the movie)

Scarlett Overkill isn't as great a character as Gru

The minions as a tribe never really feel like a family and while Kevin, Stuart, and Bob are lovable they really don't show that they care for one another and you don't really care about them.

But the biggest problem is this:

The film is a spin off of Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2, two films with a lot comedy, but also a lot of heart. Minions has no heart and what heart it has there is little of it. It focuses so much on comedy that it forgets what made the previous Despicable Me films so good was the heart and relationship between the characters. You feel the heart and the relationship between Gru and the girls, or Gru and Lucy, or even Gru and the minions. With Minions you don't feel any of that therefore, like I said before, you don't care about the characters. I cared more for the characters in Shaun The Sheep than I did in Minions. With that film you felt the heart between the characters, you felt like they were a family, and you felt like they actually cared for each other. Minions didn't make me feel any of that.

Look, I love the minions. I think they are both funny and a smart creation and I believe they can hold their own movie, but the movie that they got is not the movie they deserved.

My favorite animated film of the year ^_^
Also, "Feels Like Summer"...if that song isn't nominated for the Oscar tomorrow morning, I'll be extremely pissed it's not even funny.

Finally, Minions is garbage and my least-favorite film of 2015. It was the most pointless waste of my time at the cinema that I had all year and I saw plenty of crappy films.

Minions was the highest-grossing animated film of 2015,as well in UK,oh and the whole action took place in London...and Elisabeth...is there any reason to be surprised?(72...Inside Out on the second place(it was applauded in Cannes and plus it has an 98% percent on the RT...thank god these critics exist and they're needful at least for that reason(59...and Shaaaun the Sheep on the third...plus it's Aardman ,even mediocre, but who cares...it's British...I won't be surprised if that one will take the prize...enough...(nothing against Britains,I love them very much,as much I love everyone, but I'm against the fact)Questions? And oh my God,that's even worse than the Oscars! Anomalisa,The Good Dinosaur,The Prophet,The Peanuts Movie,Cheatin'...When Marnie was There...Anyway,congratulations to nominees and especially to Minions, such an accomplishment, since they were hardly ignored but not unfairly(even that was surprising).

It was hysterical to me (no offense intended) but it wasn't enough. Like I said earlier, next time when DM 3 comes out in 2017 the Minions will be even luckier.
