This is all really interesting. I think I would put Romeo et Juliette, a French musical based on Romeo and Juliet. It would have to be modified, of course, but if it can be done in the original French with English subtitles, I would be all for it. https://youtu.be/ytIE9hHJ5a0

Although I don’t dislike any of these shows I doubt they’d be remade as animated features. More likely an adaptation with gnomes or something silly like that… Also Wicked is already being made into a live-action film so I doubt an animated film is in the foreseeable future.

Out of all of these, I think Wicked would make the most sense to be adapted, but still wouldn’t fit exactly. I think the reason Wicked has had such a long journey to becoming a film is that the show just works best live. I can’t imagine any other format capturing the emotions and grandeur of going to see the live show. I love those Disney style character designs, but a little roadblock in my mind keeps me from believing it would be successful in comparison to the musical.
