Yeah that one is catching my eye more and more

Exactly, here in London I haven’t seen a single to promo for it, I know disney has stopped doing to spots here in the uk, inside out didn’t, even the avengers didn’t, big hero 6 no, frozen no, not even Star Wars, they just look for sponsors here to save money, but I haven’t seen any promo or a anything for the good dino, I don’t really care for it too much, I’ll just wait until I can rent it.

I understand where you’re coming from. Me personally, I love Cars 1 and Monsters University in spite of their familiar manner. Clichés don’t matter much to me as long as they’re not too burdensome to my enjoyment of the film. Nothing is new under the sun, am I right?

Honestly, I still thought it was great even if it didn’t bring that much to the table, had some clichés, and I knew it was going to hit some familiar beats. For me, it’s all about how the film is despite it had those things. Some of my favorite Pixar films have those familiar cliches and I still love them. Also, Monsters University, which wasn’t a “face your fears” story it was more a “underdog” story, had some of the things I mentioned before (more than The Good Dinosaur) and I still thought it was a good film.

I’m fine with having simple stories, as long as they’re executed well. It just felt too simple. The whole “making your mark”/underdog story has been done numerous times in the past (take Pixar’s own Monsters University). It’s up to the filmmakers to venture past the cliché to make something new out of it. Because The Good Dinosaur doesn’t bring anything fresh to the table besides its inventive premise, it’s hard for me to respect the movie as a whole.
That’s not to say I detest everything about Good Dino. It’s got fantastic animation on top of some good humor (I loved the Buck joke in the beginning!).
