The more I head about this movie the more it reminds me of the book series Medusa girls, the first book being Sweet Venom. It’s about desendents of the gorgon sisters, three girl with the ability to fight monsters, all coming from extremely different lives. In this book Medusa and her sisters actually protected our world from monsters, and each had a special power gifted to the girls. I loved the concept but never finished the series. I loves how the author mama’s to twist the myths without making in another Goddess girls or Hercules, two of my favorite examples of Greek mythology interpretation gone wrong. I like the bases for this movie and, though the fact Lauren Faust isn’t working on it anymore, I’m hoping they keep some of her ideas and make this a great film.

Management should have stayed out of it. Freaking studio interference. Popeye looked amazing too. Sony needs to work a lot harder to get my attention back.

If they release another Smurfs live-action/cgi movie, I’m done.

I was in the CTN crowd when she revealed this in the ‘women in animation’ panel. She also said it’s a shame because she really enjoyed working on Medusa. She said there were more women on the creative team than she’s ever had the privilege of working with before. It was very important to her that the female protagonists of this film be told from an authentically female point of view. Sometimes the guys at the top wouldn’t take her creative decisions seriously because they couldn’t relate to those situations in the same subtle way. But even though the project is over for her, she was very grateful for the positive experience working on it, and listed it as one of the best times in her career.

In reply to Chinoiserie. The director and writer have already been set for the MLP movie and production is now underway, so I heavily doubt that get on board at this late stage.

I wonder if Faust left of is she was forced to leave considering that she left My Little Pony on her own. Maybe she could still get a job working for the MLP film… I doupt she wants to but too bad she can not get any projects moving.
