It was moving and beautifully animated. But I don’t think it was great maybe very good. I was so nervous when I was about to watch it.

It was a little cheesy and occasionally dark but I have to agree with you on it.

Cars, MU, and this one are not Pixar’s best but you are so right on it.

I will admit that nature could’ve just been the main antagonist and some of the villains such as the pterodactyls didn’t really need to be the bad guys, but it was still cool to see Arlo take them on.

Generally speaking, you’re right. Great movie. But the thing is, Pixar prides on their formula, and this time around, it hasn’t worked on their behalf. I commend Peter Sohn for making the right choices in terms of the narrative about overcoming fear, however, there’s so many sub-narratives that it kind of gets in the way of the overall story. I actually prefer Monsters Inc over this for two reasons. Firstly, all the characters that have attention are vital to the plot. The Good Dinosaur threw in unwanted villains just to better fit the “western” motif which was not needed. And as far as the villains go, nature itself would have been good enough to be the main villain. If Inside Out had no backlash by not having a villain then The Good Dinosaur could have done the same.

I agree with you. I thought the film was great as well.
