Hey gang. Not sure if anyone else had a tear in their eye near the end of the movie or it was just me. This movie is a love letter to the little red haired girl. A story I don’t think Schultz could have told himself.

The little red haired girl was a real person in Schultz’s life, who he loved very deeply and even proposed to. He stayed friends with her over his life time but was never able to be with her. There’s a great article about this: http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2015/11/peanuts-real-little-red-haired-girl and Sparky mentions this and the true red haired girl are both interviewed in Good Grief, the 1989 Schulz biography.

While the little red haired girl only appeared in a single frame of the strip and in silhouette I have to comment the animators for their treatment of her and the entire Peanuts characters.

This is a 5 out of 5 for me and will be among my most cherished animated movies of all time.

I commend Blue Sky Studio for respecting and appreciating the Charlie Brown franchise for what it’s truly worth outside its monetary and revenue value. If they keep this up then they could be a respectable studio that doesn’t always piggyback on the Ice Age franchise.
