I’m beyond excited for this movie! Auli’i seems to be very mature for her age and I think that will translate well into Moana. I love her and Maui’s designs, the only complaint about Maui is that his facial features seem a little too small for his face but I’m sure once he’s animated he will look great! Also I don’t know if anyone has pointed tis out yet, but I LOVE the new textured logo seen at the end of the video, it just brings something extra to the movie. The only real issue I have with Moana is that I still have to wait over a year to watch it!

Moana’s voice actor is adorable and I’m happy for her on a personal level, but I don’t know, maybe she sounds too much like a typical American girl? I guess that’s normal for WDAS, historically, and this is an American movie regardless of the setting, but I’m thinking that Moana might have benefited from at least using a voice actor who is older, like those of most Disney princesses/heroines. Hearing a subtle (or sometimes not so subtle) undertone of maturity in their voices (even in the most girlish examples, such as Rapunzel) is what I’m more accustomed to, and I like it, but aside from that I think this might somehow have felt less out of place (more generic, perhaps, and less identifiable as an American teenager).

Not to prejudge the actor or the movie, though. I’ll keep an open mind when the movie comes out, and I reserve the right to take back all of these concerns, which are very preliminary of course. Hopefully this and the movie as a whole will turn out great.

Couldn’t this “lava witch” be Pele, the goddess of fire and volcanoes? If so, then she’s not necessarily evil, although she is associated with violence and negative emotions. In reply to Keegan Kenrick. I don't think they are supposed to be a couple at all. It sounds more like a Ralph-Vanellope type of relationship to me. I mean, as you said, Moana is just a teenager and he is really old being a demi-god and all that.
