This is unfortunate since Mary Poppins is, what I consider, one of the best films Disney has ever made. The only thing that comforts me is that the sequel/remake (whatever you want to call it) is set 20 years after the original film, leaving space for any changes Disney has up its sleeve and lessening any tarnish the sequel might have on the first movie. That said, I have read most of the Mary Poppins books (which have a different vibe than the movie). I’m not expecting much from the sequel/remake, but I do hope the folks at Disney will retain the quirky aspects of the books and the charm of the first film.

So I guess that means that in this new film Mary Poppins will arrive on a Segway instead of a flying umbrella? (Presumably they are going to modernize it)
