The trailer was too jarring for me. :/ Like it was trying so hard to tell me ‘This is an intense movie omg!!!” I’m not really digging the cg hyper-real animals with voices either. But since people seem to be positive about it, I’m still interested in seeing what they do with the story.

I have a challenge not to compare the original novel, one of my favorite classic books, with the animated version or this new one. I’m pleased to see how this version looks as if it is trying to capture the danger and excitement of the canon material. Yet I feel skeptic in response to the trailer.

Mostly I think it is because Disney is doing so many reboots lately that this is “another one” lined up. I second Mason’s comment about so many popular actors taking the roles of these iconic characters. And while GCI is necessary to get talking and moving animals working with a child actor, it seems like an overload of graphics.

But I’m curious enough to stay in tuned for a full trailer and feedback on the film. I’m sure there will be some nods and winks to the animated 60’s version (King Louie was a Disney creation) but am hoping there will be some unexpected twists, turns, surprises and action (the ’90’s “Indian Jones”-vibe version) and maybe even some dialogue from the book.

Hmmm…some pretty nice visuals but its in contrast to some gritty violent scenes and Scarlett Johanson can’t beat Sterling Holloway as Kaa. And am I the only one who thinks “Oh my God, Disney! What did you do to King Louie?!”.

In reply to Jessica. According to Jon Favreau, the director, the film will have both epic action and the charm of the orignal. The goal is to have new elements added to the film while also having the lighthearted elements of the orignal as well. That's why he wanted scenes like Mowgli sitting on Baloo's stomach while they float down the river (the scene near at the end of the trailer) or having Bill Murray as Baloo singing "Bare Necessities" in the film itself. Also, not everything needs to be colorful. There is nothing wrong with being a little dark as long as you do "being dark" right. Besides there will proabaly be more colorful moments (like the one at the end of the trailer) in the film itself and remember they are trying to make it look realistic (Well as realistic as a film with talking animals can get). If they make it too colorful it will be coming out as cartoony.
