That WOULD be pretty awesome! Maybe she’ll have a voice role in the future

“Rebel Wilson was forced to bow out due to an extended production schedule.” Rest assured, nothing has been rescheduled.

This is exactly what I’m talking about. All the changes that people wouldn’t have given a second thought with other films are somehow freaking out the masses because the studio has been in a BO slump. Honestly, who cares? When you remove that factor, the production process of Kung Fu Panda 3 really isn’t unlike any other film, where the production team is putting the finishing touches on the final product, often at the last minute.

In fact, what is the troubled part exactly? The date changes? Sure, as if the quality of a film depended on how soon we were supposed to see it. Four is more than usual, but what sane executive in the animation industry would think that anything animated would stand up to a cultural phenomenon like Star Wars. Either way, it all comes down to the production crew being given as much time as needed to make the best film possible.

A co-director hopping onboard? Sure, as if that never happened before (Big Hero 6). Actors being replaced in the midst of production? I think I’ve already said what I wanted to say in the article.

Again, don’t worry. This temporary flare-up of indigestion caused by irrational concern and needlessly compounded focus on routine bumps in the production process of an animated film will last for about 10 minutes before a new trailer and/or new footage comes out.

While it’s certainly very sad to see Rebel go, the main issue I have is that it seems like the film’s production is not moving along as well as it should at this stage in production. DreamWorks has had some troubling years, and this was supposed to be the studio’s big return, but it’s worrying to see how troubling this film’s production is moving along.

As I’ve stated in the article, Rebel’s exit is unfortunate, as we’ll never get to hear her take on the character. But why should this be cause for concern for Kung Fu Panda 3? Why is this the breaking point? Why is this the thing that’s making people lose their minds and dissolve into a puddle of nervousness and doubt?

When an animated film begins its four-year journey from the first draft to the big screen, the film as it was originally planned is almost never the same film that we see in the theater. Certain elements are bound to change, even as production teams work their way down to the last minute. There’s no way to anticipate them, especially at that stage. The best you can do is adapt to those changes as you go along. That is what’s happening here. A change has occurred in the midst of production and they are adjusting occordingly.

I don’t recall anybody getting this spooked over all the news concerning the rocky production path of The Good Dinosaur (at least on this website). If there were any concerns, there were definitely washed away by that incredible trailer.

By that same token, most (if not all) of you will happen across a new trailer or clip and forget that you even had any doubts about the film, however unfounded they are.

Sorry for the rant, but it had to be said.
