That was a reminder, and I actually said that they weren’t even the same *kind* of movie (in more ways than one), and therefore shouldn’t be compared. Their box office runs are therefore not comparable either, as you were attempting to do, and my point was to explain why. And it doesn’t matter whether Minions ends up grossing less or more–they’re still different kinds of movies with different kinds of box office runs. Now, some folks here would rather that some kinds of movies were never made, but that’s a different topic.

Uh huh I don’t know where this is going bc I never said ‘Minions’ and ‘Frozen’ are the same movie. I’m glad they aren’t; thankfully not all animated movies have to be the similar in order to be entertaining and successful.

First of all, Frozen is a different kind of movie from Minions, regardless of marketing and box office. It’s also an original as opposed to a sequel or spin-off.

As for marketing, Frozen was marketed deceptively–the movie did not deliver what was advertised, and after the opening weekend effectively it had to fend for itself. Besides, it only opened with $67.4 million (domestic) versus $115.7 million for Minions, and its opening weekend multiplier will end up being about twice as large.

They’re just not comparable in any way, and I don’t see the point in trying to assert that they are more similar than they are and were in more similar situations than they were. The only similarity is that they are cultural phenomena, but even then it is still different because Frozen is an original while Minions is a spin-off.
