I agree about having more couples. The dead parents pattern is becoming a little tiring especially after how Frozen and Good Dinosaur turned out. But about Hiro & Tadashi, then where would Baymax be?

@Chinoiserie: The co-creator confirmed the relationship on his blog after the finale aired. He said they could not make it more explicit because of Nickleodeon. But there are strong hints scattered throughout Books 3 and 4.

I also don’t think the Avatarverse really reflects the social and cultural evolution of our world. They definitely were much more progressive in a number of different ways. And yes, the relationship will receive a major focus in the comics.

I may be super naive, but I truthfully didn’t even notice they were a couple at all, I just thought they were friends. I did watch the series by myself and wasn’t able to talk to someone about it. When the last episode aired that thought didn’t even enter my mind. When I actually heard it was canon it took the creators confirming it, to make me think they weren’t just good friends. That is why I am so excited about the comics, they don’t have a budget getting cut, or television ratings to worry about so they could possibly get the opportunity to develop their relationship, which would be wonderful to see. That being said, the voice actress of Korra has proposed at some conventions, and the voice actress that plays Sami has accepted in video form… so I kinda pretend it’s cannon:)
