I think if we take ourselves out of the whole "religion" aspect of it (as hard as it may be) and just look at it for its content and story, it could be really great- for example, The Prince of Egypt. Yes, the Prince of Egypt is a religious story in its roots, but it's just an amazing story of a man of humble beginnings who lived a lavish life of wealth and glory, only to find himself and help a very large community of people to overcome. Again, when we simply just look at a story and how it's told, any story, whether it be rooted in Christianity, Islam, Judaism, etc can be extremely beautiful. If one immediately goes into a movie feeling like the religion is being "pushed" on the viewer, than either 1) the studio has failed, or 2) the viewer started the movie with a not-so open mind. Solely my opinion, I like to think the latter.

I'm pretty sure the trick is to tell the story in a way that speaks to the audience and transcends its religious trappings.

Yeah, you'd think they'd be too "liberal" or "nonconservative" to tackle religion again.

I find it odd in this extremely politically-correct age for a major animation studio to do a film about religion, let alone Christianity, but I am really happy they are going forward with it!
