Disney owns Marvel as a whole company, but as far as directing movies, Disney only does it with the MCU (Iron Man, Thor, Guardians... etc). This is a FOX STUDIOS film, just like the X-Men movies. Because Disney owns the brand Marvel (as a whole), they get some royalties from the Fantastic Four regardless of owning the movie rights or not. And don't get promotions mixed up with advertisements. Anyone can pay to be featured on the Disney Channel and that's exactly what Fox Studios did.

If Disney doesn't own it then why were they promoting it so much?

Lackluster effects is right! Example, when Mr. Fantastic's face was warping. It looked very amateur. I've seen better effects on Syfy original TV shows.

After reading so many reviews of this movie (including this one), I decided to watch it in a discounted theater. If you have time to kill, go ahead; but it's nothing to look forward to.

Just a side note: Although Fantastic Four is a Marvel entity, it's not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)- therefore, not associated with the Walt Disney Co. However, if it was done by the MCU/Disney, they'd find a way to make the movie work!

Awe. I was so excited to see it. Usually Disney does such good jobs with marvel movies. Is it still worth it to go see it in theaters?
