Yeah, Lava was a pretty weak short. Its concept was cute and the visuals were nice but overall, it’s nothing remarkable. They could have definitely done better than that, especially when paired with something like Inside Out.

For the record, I also dislike One Man Band and Boundin’. One Man Band was incredibly forgettable, especially when compared to the vastly superior Presto, and I could never get into Boundin’, because I didn’t like how the characters looked and the concept just didn’t hold up.

I’d argue that Lava, Paperman, and Blue Umbrella are all copying “Alice Bluebonnet and Johnny Fedora” from Disney’s “Make Mine Music”

I really liked it . It’s maybe not my favorite but I thought it was sweet little story. It was more like a music video for the song but I was ok with that . I love that song!

I guess my problem is that I expect a short film to be, well, a film that is short. A small story with a beginning, a middle and an end with characters who are motivated and there’s conflict.

I agree Party Central takes advantage of the door concept but I don’t even remember anything else about it because there was no conflict, no stakes, no character development. I’m glad you enjoyed it, though! That means the film did what it was supposed to do for some people

In reply to PabloRuiz7. What is wrong with shorts where things "just happen"? I thought Party Central was great. It took advantage of the "doors leading to people's room concept" and did it in a hilarious and fun way.
