Also Yukie Sako, responsible for the character design also confirmed his departure. The second season of Sailor Moon Crystal has been planned in the first half of 2016 but currently has no formal specific notice.

Season 2 of SMC will have a new director and character designer of new stars.

I agree! SMC wasn’t perfect, but I still loved it! In fact, I’d say every episode was well-worth watching; two, three, four, and even more times! Maybe some folks just couldn’t adapt to the new style or simply had too-high expectations. As the saying goes, “You can’t please everyone.” Perhaps the problem with “lack of character” may be somewhat corrected with an new English dub. I just hope Sailor Moon is not over this soon!

See the whole “comparing old to new” versions of the anime is the one thing that always annoys me about the complaints on Crystal. I, like you, went into this thinking “okay it’s a new series. not a remake on an old one.” I was actually really excited to have it more like the manga since while I love the 90s Sailor Moon. I found the anime versions of the arcs a little lacking I guess.

I loved the fact that Neo-Queen Serenity decides to say “screw it” and meet her past self.

I love that Black Moon abduction thing just cause it gave me more feels for Usagi then the 90s version did.

I loved the whole “four generals and inner senshi were in love in their past lives” cause that actually made the four generals good guys and it gave another reason why the girls never found love again or tried to (plus i thought making Zoisite and Kunsite lovers kinda took away from the shock of Haruka and Michiru’s relationship later on in a “not ANOTHER gay couple kinda way”).

I also loved that in the manga and in Crystal you actually see how Chibi-Usa became Chibi-Moon instead of just dropping her on Usagi and saying “yeah she’s a senshi now so you train her.”

But overall, I think it’s beautifully made, I really like the new character design (especially what they did to Mamoru, I mean hot dayum. plus: he was really in line with the Manga, characterwise and I really enjoyed that.)
As a huge fan of the Manga, I was plesantly surprised they used the scenes so beautifully (like the Masquerade chapter, or the scene where Usagi defeats Metalia and then wakes up in Mamorus arm and they’re finally toegther again and ahhhhh-)

So yes, I NEED more SMC, I need my two babies Uranus und Neptune, and I need gorgeous Saturn, so GIVE US THE INFINITY ARC PLEASE.

I do wish they would expand on more than just the story that’s been told several times already. An original storyline would be great, but I don’t see them doing that until they at least finish all of the manga arcs, if that even happens.
