As a fan of Avalon high I’m actually kinda excited for this one. I’m interested in the take. But as for Genie unless they’re somehow resurrecting Robin Williams for this I don’t care. You can’t make a genie movie without the genie. *sigh* this is getting really old and the movies haven’t even come out yet.

This actually doesn’t sound too bad–I don’t really like Disney’s Sword in the Stone, it most had the most random plotline and a lot of it was just filler material with Wart and Merlin turning into birds and squirrels and whatever, and then there was like ten minutes dedicated to the actual sword in the stone. :/ So, of all the live-action remakes going on, this is one I’d most like to see–I wouldn’t mind if they change the story up the wazoo, since the original barely even had a story to begin with.

I really hope they focus on Arthur as a boy and his apprenticeship. And let’s talk about MERLIN! Lately, it’s been the trend to make things “grittier”, “worn out”, etc; but I would like to see a fantastical portrayal of Merlin. Of course have him look like he’s been around, but have his garb look majestic and noble- something comparable to Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter films.

The last live-action remake from Disney (Cinderella) made $539 million worldwide (with a domestic total of $200 million). So clearly, somebody cares about these remakes. If not, than I wonder why they make boatloads of money every time? Also, a 2D-animated film would need to make EXACTLY that much in order for there to be a ‘revival’, and with the added success of Disney’s CG-animated features, I doubt that they will so much as glance at 2D at any point in the near future.

I’ve said it twice and I’ll say it again: they will stop making these remakes when people stop seeing them. As far as I’m concerned, that day won’t come anytime soon.

Instead of spending so much money on live-action remakes no one cares about, Disney could use this money for a 2D-animation revival…
