I was thinking the same thing. But I think by Bing Bong being forever forgotten, it means to Riley at least that he never existed and so he was never in any of her memories, he simply faded out of them leaving a the same memory without
Bing Bong. At least that's what I think.

When you think about it, how many people remember if they even had an imaginary friend, most people would say they didn't, but maybe they were just forgotten just like Bing Bong.

At first I thought he might be, his appearance made you think that

Still great job by Pixar making him into such an awesome character

My wife and I both cried when he died (Dammit Pixar! Why do so many of your films make me cry!)

I wouldn't say he was against Bing Bong being in the film... Or that he was rallying others who thought the same way...

I admit while I like Olaf I kind of like Bing Bong a lot better. Olaf was the naive child like, yet kind of creepy looking and endearing side kick, but Bing Bong's old timey Hobo like charm and humor got to me. Not to mention he seemed to be a bit more fleshed out. Then again I listen to a lot of The Thrilling Adventure Hour and have a soft spot for the Moonshine Holler segment so perhaps I'm a bit biased...

To be clear I don't hate Olaf, I just don't love him, sure he provides some nice moments but in the grand scheme of things he comes off useless. Olaf is introduced, says he knows the way to Elsa (yet Kristoff was introduced with a similar function to the story) and everything after that could've easily been done by anyone else through a rewrite.

Olaf's biggest moment really comes in as a plot point for Elsa (how she gets the idea to create a snowman body guard) and even then was he really necessary for that?

He's a nice occasionally funny sidekick who would've been better if he served as the mediator between sisters, a role I feel was teased but never comes through, leaving him feeling useless

I also thought so at first. His first impression said 'Scoundrel', with his hobo look and stealing of memory orbs. What was he going to do with those memories he was stealing anyway?

While Bing Bong is great, what's with the Olaf hate all of a sudden? Olaf was there for Anna at her lowest. When Hans just left her shattered in every way possible, it was Olaf who gave Anna hope by talking about the meaning of "true love", and how there were people in the world who still cared for her.

Olaf can be viewed as a part of Elsa's subconscious that was always looking after Anna even in her absence. I think he is a great example of a sidekick as well.
