They are ignoring the Disney movie because they can. Like Sherlock Holmes, a number of Tarzan stories are in the public domain, which means that multiple studios can spin their own takes on the material.

In this case, it would appear that this show has the official backing of the Burroughs estate, which ultimately gives the writers full access to all of the original novels and short stories. ]]></description>
