As a fellow fan of "The Prince of Egypt" (I'd put it on my top 10) I agree about the need to go "all out" with animation that made it so beautiful. It is an epic movie; Cecille DeMille was doing these larger-than-life movies in the 40's and 50's but "Prince of Egypt" didn't try to copy "The Ten Commandments", though I'm sure they watched it for inspiration. It is a movie that requires big action and Dreamworks stepped up to the plate.

Also, this is a biblical movie. That's hard enough to make adaptable for the audience to watch (and enjoy) but making it "family friendly" must've taken some serious script writing. There were a few classic Dreamworks puns and slapstick but the moments such as the Burning Bush or Splitting of the Sea matched beautiful animation with stirring music to create scenes that were dazzling and emotional to watch.
