Too bad the animation is going to be in 2D 🙁 (I love this kind of animation but I’d prefer 3D for Tangled since the actual film is in 3D!)

Perhaps the series will be set in a slightly different universe, not unlike The 7D.

Either way, since it is being made by Disney TV Animation and not by Walt Disney Animation Studios (the department that created Tangled), it will not be canon anyway.

(The general rule of thumb is that the department that creates the canon keeps the canon, so that means that certain movie-based TV shows such as the Aladdin series and The Lion Guard are not canon and that the direct-to-video cheapquels are definitely not canon as well, since those were made by TV Animation and not by Walt Disney Animation Studios.)

While I agree that I too would LOVE to see Rapunzel to continue to have her short brown hair, odds are they’ll opt for her original design. I prefer they keep with the continuity of the film, but her long hair (whether it’s blond or brown) is synonymous with the name Rapunzel and I keep being reminded of the Disney series “Aladdin” where they kept Genie’s old design even though he lost the cuffs at the end of the movie. Personally, I say keep the brown hair. Flynn said it himself: “[he has] a thing for brunettes.” 😀

In reply to Guest. That's a good point. Tangled is still very popular, and with Moana coming next year and Frozen 2 supposedly 2018, I can't help but wonder if Disney is just trying to keep Tangled's success with new Disney Princess related things.

For the love of God, Disney, do not ruin the ending by trying to erase her brown hair, don’t cheapen your own film! If people only care about her because of blond hair and not the message of the movie then they can go watch Cinderella, Frozen, Sleeping Beauty… Let a Princess have short, brown hair, I’m begging you.

Why, exactly, can’t she have her natural brown hair? You do know that in the movie she is taught by her emotionally abusive kidnapper, right? And that she did it, along with a host of other abuses, to keep Rapunzel under control? Showing Rapunzel embracing her (I repeat) natural brown hair shows she’s overcoming damage Gothel did to her and sends the message that you should embrace who you are, not cover it up. That’s the entire message if the movie (the “ruffians” are actually an eclectic gang of artists, “Flynn” is actually Eugene and is happy when Rapunzel says she likes Eugene). Did you just miss that or is the blonde hair the only thing you noticed? I hope they don’t just throw away the brown hair, it would cheapen the movie and its message. And let’s just be honest, if you want blond hair you have plenty of other options.
