MY. WORD. That animation…looks downright ASTOUNDING. It is quite easily the perfect blend between CGI and hand-drawn animation. In all honesty, I think it looks a lot better then both Paperman and Feast. My money is definitely on this film, assuming it gets green-lit.

I don’t know how much CG would actually play a part in the making of it. Still, it looks AMAZING. Somebody better fund this, because this could prove to be a major step forward for hand-drawn animation if it’s done, real proof that it still has life as an art form.

The director of this piece is Sergio Pablos, an ex-Disney animator. If you look at the Postman in the trailer, you may notice his mannerisms and the facial design are quite similar to Dr. Doppler from Disney’s Treasure Planet. Sergio was the lead animator of the good Dr.!

But the last scene made me think, “Klaus as in…Claus?” Now the postal service makes sense!

Is this meandering? If so it looks like the color problem has been solved and a Paperman style feature film should be well on its way. This looks different than Paperman though. I wonder how an unknown independent studio in Spain managed to nail this CG and hand-drawn blend before Disney.
