Oddly, it reminds me more of the new pattern in movies where you get “part 1” of a movie, and have to wait a whole year for the next part. As seen in: Harry Poter and the Deathly Hollows, Breaking Dawn, Mockingjay, Justice League and Avengers Infinity War.

Yes, you heard that right. The current mindset right now is that the next 13 episodes of Race to the Edge are to be expected in the next 6 months (same for the next season). Think of it like any other TV show (specifically one on any broadcast network), where you have a 22-episode season that gets split up and aired in two parts (typically in the Fall and Spring season).
