So, the artistic side of me has been picking at these images since I first saw them (they were up on Facebook a few weeks ago), and I’ve got every difference I can find. Aside from the obvious fur-replaceed-with-leather, when compared to HTTYD2: Hiccup and Astrid’s differences are obvious, so I won’t go into that; Ruff is lacking the extra bands on her braids that were above the top braid-knot (they are also bright purple) and her arm bands are green-grey instead of bright purple, and the cords wrapped around her leggings; Tuff is missing his spiked shoulderpad, the spikes on his boots (love the Zippleback appearance, I noticed that in HTTYD2) and the spikes on his armbands have been rounded off, and the studs covering them are gone, and the color of his shirt and vest are more grey, where as in HTTYD2 they had a bit more of a blue hue; Snotlout is only missing his fur wrap and the leather ‘diaper’-thing he wore; and Fishlegs is missing a couple belt pouches and his knife.

There’s also the lack of facial hair and the changes in eye color for each of them (if you look closely, Tuff’s eyes in Riders/Defenders was more grey than blue but in this picture and in HTTYD2 it is brighter blue, and in the second movie Fishlegs eyes were more of a limey green (making them a different hue than Hiccup’s)), though even in HTTYD 2 the eye colors had been brightened, so I guess that was made to macth that.

I wonder what Stoick and Heather’s new designs with look like.
