I don’t doubt the possibility that her parents may be long gone. That, combined with a tarnished family reputation, could definitely explain why she behaves like she does in HTTYD1 and much of Riders/Defenders.

I don’t know, neither Alvin nor Astrid gave any indication that her parents died at the former’s hands. It’s possible, but considering that her and Hiccup are the same age, her parents would have to have died shortly after Astrid was born.
