I respect Disney for understanding the importance for their shorts. These shorts are the very first gateway to the technological advancements and future of Disney’s Animation.

In Creativity Inc, Ed Catmull states that these shorts are not profitable as the content is too short and most of the technological experimentation occurs during these shorts which is really costly for the company. For Disney to go ahead and make a risk like that regardless has really paid off. To date, Paperman is one of my favourite shorts and Disney interpretation of The Little Match Girl is the saddest Disney tale of all time.

In reply to aquapyro. If that were the case, shorts such as Tangled Ever After would have been released already. That short came out in 2012, some are older than that. Frozen Fever is the main driver for this collection.

Welp… NOW it’s a definite BUY. Holy crud, that list and the bonus of “Runaway Brain”? Why would I not buy this set?

…It still needs more shorts though (like the ones supposed to be in that third Fantasia movie that never happened, for example), but I won’t complain.
