Smart move on Dreamworks part. January is usually a dumping month for crappy movies, so it should have little to no competetion.

I don’t disagree with you on January/February being dump season (home to such masterpieces like The Nut Job and Strange Magic.

That being said, the films I’ve mentioned in the last comment have been the acception, and they generally do business because there’s no one else that could be a strong contender at the box office.

So for what its worth, KP3 might actually give me a reason to go to the theaters during the month of cinema’s ‘barren wasteland’ after having fun with Star Wars!

…I think I’m ok with this development.

Usually January movies are crap (especially animated ones, which end up being forgettable – “Strange Magic”, anyone?), but this makes me actually look forward to a release just a couple weeks after my birthday. Now I’m hoping all the release date moving is worth it with the final result! Don’t let me (and the many other KFP fans) down!

In reply to brandon. They only did well because its business. The beginning of the year is toilet season. Where movies are released to die. If a film is released at that time general conception is that its bad and not worth it. KFP3 is lucky to finally get its spot to there isn't any competition except for Star Wars still raking in the mula

While that would seem like an odd place for a tentpole animated film like Kung-Fu Panda, films like The LEGO Movie and this year’s Paddington and The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water have proven that the January/February release window can be home to some good films.

Other than that, this is great news, as we’ll get to see it earlier than expected!
