Comments on: Matthew Rhys Joins ‘Jungle Book: Origins’ as Original Character

Through I’m sure the Disney reboot will be fun in it’s own way, I’m intrigued to see how “Origins” can include some of Kipling’s details into the movie; there are some remarkable and exciting scenarios that haven’t yet made it to film.

I still enjoy the 1994 live-action film but having read the original novel, discovered that there’s no British characters in the novel “The Jungle Book”; they are only briefly mentioned. This makes me wonder if John Lockwood will be introduced as the one who finds Mowgli or is a parental friend who helps him adjust from the jungle to human life. I hope it isn’t an obvious villain role like Captain Boone from the ’94 film or Clayton in Disney’s “Tarzan”.

Not sure which one to root for, but I think I’ll do the same as Haley and decide when the trailers come out.
Also, whenever I see the name “Lockwood” now I automatically think of the Lockwood and Co. series by Jonathan Stroud. (read them they’re great) (also, the first book is set to be adapted into Illumination Entertainment’s first fully live-action movie! Excited.)
