In reply to Haley Gilbertson. Sorry if you hate the concept of talking animals but it's basically what The House of Mouse is built on. Cinderella's dress changing may be Walt's favorite bit of animation, but after all the films he made, 'Bambi' always remained his favorite.

I’ll admit that I never saw this film in whole as a kid, nor have I seen the new live-action version. I will also admit that the original film doesn’t seem to interest me all that much, but might be worth it for the mice and cat. I hear their scenes are great, and from what I’ve seen of them, there’s definitely a fun energy to the animation that only Ward Kimball could provide.

I will also say that animator and article writer Mike Caracappa considered this movie sort of a turning point in the history of Disney animation:

“Cinderella marks a turning point in the future of featureanimation for Walt Disney. It’s a good movie for sure. But the tone is much different than his other features. The animation is starting to get much more refined and a little more sophisticated. However, compared to Snow White, Pinocchio, Dumbo, Fantasia, and Bambi, one thing that is noticable is that the emotional undercurrent of films during and after Cinderella isn’t as strong. There is a much more light-hearted feel to those later films. I feel this a lot with all of Disney’s features after 1950. There are a few good moments of emotional drama, but none of the films for the rest of Walts career had the stirring powerful impact that his first five films did. In these later features, we get some classic moments for sure. But Cinderella definitely marks a change in the studios output for features.”

In reply to Matthew Latham. It's only poetic that it's princesses in musicals who keep rescuing Disney considering there would have been no Disney as we know of it today if it hadn't been for Snow White and the Seven Dwarves in the first place.

Wow, and people today complained about how the Frozen dolls don’t look close enough to the actual characters and yet over 50 years ago for the Cinderella doll….. Wow. Just wow.

I love Cinderella and even though I freaking hate that mice story you gotta admit the movie is still enjoyable to this day and I loved reading this since I just got this movie on blu ray and loved the special feature talking about this and it is really just amazing how rolling the dice on this film just changed Disney into what it is today!
