If this is true, then I can't wait! The best animated film I've seen was Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole, and it had some of the best CGI ever made for an animated film. If they do the same as that movie, then this new Watership Down will most certainly do well in theaters. I'll go to see it, most certainly, mostly due to the fact the book is my #1 favorite book of all-time. I say get John Hurt back into the movie as Threreah and Richard Briers as Captain Holly, or someone. It's best to have some of the older actors, and they're two of the only big ones still alive (if you don't know, Hurt voiced Hazel and Briers voiced Fiver in the original (yes, I know the article mentioned their names, but I just wanted to say it again, okay?)). I'd probably say a good voice for a new Hazel would be either Daniel Radcliffe (I'm just making guesses here based on great British actors, so don't flame me, please) or maybe James McAvoy. Joh Noble, though he's Australian, could be a great Woundwort. But yeah, this should be good!

Maybe Martin Rosen (director of the '78 classic film) might know more about who BBC hired to animate it. At least Tim Burton isn't messing it up like he's probably going to mess up Dumbo... must everything get the 'goth' treatment nowadays?

I saw this for the first time a couple of months ago and was unfortunately not blown away...However, I definitely did appreciate the content and material, and respect how impactful it must have been to watch something like this way back when it was originally released. Nothing like that had existed at that point, so I'm sure it was viewed to be a very controversial film. That being said, I'd be open to this new version if it keeps the same dark over tones but updates some of the story development. I found the original to be a little slow, but otherwise thought it was a great story to animate in the manner in which it was presented. Can't wait to hear more about this development!
