Well, we also have to look from a critical perspective of how Big Hero 6 is not the Pocahontas of our time. While Pocahontas was a box office hit, critics and audiences were divided with the film. On rotten tomatoes, the film is a 56% while Big Hero 6 is at a 90%. Big difference in terms of reviews. And Pocahontas is considered the weakest of the renaissance. The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Hercules also divided audiences and critics. While Mulan and Tarzan did not gross more than The Lion King, critics and audiences praised those movies. Let's see if Zootopia and Moana will be good movies.

I agree in the sense that generally every era of major success for WDAS began, or so it is viewed, with a movie that really got the public's attention and put WDAS in the limelight. Interestingly, each of these eras began with a "princess musical," including the current one since Tangled was the first big hit that broke the slump and was followed by at least several other big hits. Fans and historians can delve into greater detail regarding the circumstances and other movies that led up to each breakthrough, but the starts of the eras have historically been defined by movies that actually made it big to lead a string of hits among the population in general. The Little Mermaid is actually the one that is the most in doubt in the sense that it wasn't all that huge at the box office, although there is no question of its overall impact.

As for Big Hero 6 not being this generation's Pocahontas, remember that Pocahontas was a pretty successful movie, grossing nearly as much as Beauty and the Beast did from that era (domestically). Now, while simply adjusting for inflation does NOT make for a fair comparison (movies from such different eras really cannot be directly compared due to a wide variety of factors), it is nevertheless interesting to note that Pocahontas would be a bigger hit than Big Hero 6 in such a comparison. My point is that Pocahontas was hardly a flop, although like Big Hero 6 it didn't--and shouldn't have been expected to--match the popularity of the mega-hit that immediately preceded it. Counting only the 1990s, it was the following movies, with the exception of Tarzan and to some degree Mulan, that underperformed for whatever reasons, and in terms of box office performance it remains to be seen how long the current "Revival" era holds up.

I'm sorry, is a vote really necessary? I mean really, really!? Tangled beats out almost every movie ever and simply destroys on this list. (Note: Wreck-it-Ralph is also pretty stellar and the rest are casually great... except Frozen... Frozen can go die.)

Meet the Robinsons and Bolt are not entirely part of this new renaissance. Yes, they are part of the change with Disney animation, but the general consensus of both films is that they are the "Underrated Disney clan" like Sword in the Stone or Hercules. The Princess and the Frog is the true start of this new renaissance. Tangled made Disney Animation profitable again, Wreck It Ralph helped Disney Animation get recognition for non-fairy tale adaptations, and Frozen is the the film that cements Disney's new renaissance. There was a concern of Big Hero 6 being this generation's Pocahontas, but that is not the case. Yes, it didn't make a billion but it is a success never the less.
