Well, I snickered a couple times, and the anime medium is ripe for parody. The sheer anything-goes feel hits its mark at a couple spots. But the comment by Aniki is pretty astute too--the character designs are kinda blobby and confusing; even when many anime shows fall back on similar facial features, the characters still have a solid "structure" to them. While there's lots to make fun of with anime tropes, it feels that the animation of this was done pretty haphazardly under a larger umbrella of parody (like some poorly drawn or lazy-looking sequences; some anime uses visual shortcuts, but the character designs themselves are still typically drawn well).

There ways to mock anime style. But in order to mock you have to investigate. What's wrong with this animation is not the concept of parody, I think its brilliant, but the drawing, the anatomy, the style, the animation, the volumes, the inconsistency, that's what bothers me!!

I hope you can use this criticism for future projects. Good Luck ;)

This is mediocre animation at best. Totally not worth being in a DreamWorks channel at all.
The Pacing is inconsistent, the drawings are as if a eight grader did them. There is no good construction character wise (No line of action, over animation) The style could use so much polishing, its as if it was mocking both cartoon and anime in the worst mediocre way possible. The Human anatomy grows from frame to frame. There is no foreshadowing when the new characters enter the scene. The story telling is confusing and very bad constructed. I get the concept, but its seems like this is a 3rd year student's work for college. And even at that, it wouldn't even get a B.
Even if it were experimental it'll never pass because its seems like that's all the animator could do.

Dear DreamWorks: I respect your works. And by far this is THE WORST ANIMATION I'VE EVER SEEN. You get a D-.

I actually didn't think this was that bad! I mean the style isn't great but the writing got a couple of chuckles out of me. From what people were saying I thought it was gonna be a lot worse!

Im sorry but this was not clear to me it was a spoof at all. This blog and the description seem to take it very seriously, and the whole tone of the episode seem pretty like a regular kids show that want to be like the afternoon cartoon we americans watched as a kid. If you think about it, the sound looks great, but the Deviant Art poorly drawn drawings is an old and offesive joke to the Japanese artist who work hard on their animations. I rather leave that on DA, then actually see it produced by dreamworks.

Ive already seen adventures of Kim Jon Un and its at least funny and willing to add extra effort to make the animations looke solidified.

Now that this has been published, I will take off my reporter hat and be a little bit subjective.

I did not like this. I think the main problem for me was actually admitted by the creator in the comments. This was not a lovingly made anime parody by a fan of the medium, but an attempt to mock anime created by someone who does not watch any anime.

It just feels too mean for me and I can't see myself watching any more of it.

technically, it's not anime. anime has as much diverse animation designs as US animation, but just like US, huge eyes and such are signature styles.

So it IS suppose to be spoofing real anime? Well, I haven't watched it yet, but it's definitely a great concept, as animes most the time are just so weird they are almost begging to be parodied. And this is from someone who loves copious amounts of anime. But I'll certainly will give it a try!
