I read the prologue of the book and supposedly all the stories we know (aka the Disney animated movies) happened 20 years ago. After those events all the Disney villains (including the ones who died, who were magically brought back from the dead), henchmen and other criminals were exiled to a island where they were magic-less.

If all villains started having kids on that island (I’m sure there were some criminals there crazy enough to sleep with them) around the same time as the heroes had their ‘happily ever after’ it explains why they all have children around the same age.

Oh, I am definitely feeling that Ever After High/Monster High sort of vibe, and I honestly don’t blame Disney for trying to use their own properties to cash into this sort of YA boom while it’s still popular and relevant.

That being said, I’m not sure how excited I am about this movie yet. On one hand, I feel it has the potential to be something good, a story that brings the new generation from the classic heroes and villains so we can see if they’ll follow in their parents’ footsteps. However, this is something we’ve already seen before… in The Lion King 2. It’s typical Disney Channel fodder that is predictable and marketable, but it doesn’t mean it’ll be good. Most of those movies (in recent years) haven’t been all that good or memorable, at least since the times of High School Musical and the ones I can remember from the late 90s-early 2000s.

Though I will admit that the prequel book does sound interesting. Also, how did all of the villains just manage to reproduce at the same time so as to have teenage descendants at around the same time as our favorite heroes and Disney Princesses? I doubt the book will cover that… I may check just the book out, but not the movie, though it does look run-of-the-mill so far.

As funny as these conversations are,
I would like it if we can keep that kind of dialogue to a minimum.

Remember, not all of us are 18 and up. And this isn’t exactly an adult website.
