At least the -original- WD movie poster let you get some idea what you're in for. I think 'Watership Down' should be credited as the first serious talking animal drama since Halas & Batchelor's 'Animal Farm.' Some may even argue that 'Animal Farm' had more comic relief & that's saying something. Gotta love 'Watership Down' for having no annoying sidekick songs - such a thing would be way beneath its dignity. What it -does- have is depth, strong characters with gravity, action-packed suspense that never lets up, and an enticing nature spirituality.

This is one of my favorite animated movies, so it's nice to see a classic get reviewed on here... and without spoilers too! Honestly, this is one of those movies that's hard to not-spoil and you did it well. Very nice.

To those that haven't seen Watership Down yet, just... watch it. It's violent and dark, yes, but it's worth watching. A good mix of real and supernatural... but mostly real. The world needs more animated movies like this nowadays.

Good review.

Me personally, I look to the films of 2014 (The LEGO Movie, HTTYD2, etc) as proof that there still exist people in animation who aren't afraid to be epic and daring.
