In reply to Tim Tran. Your right, Disney does have more than just the princesses. But they do make more money, at least in the merch department. Maybe I was just focusing on the merchandise thing.

In reply to David Kang. That is actually theit weakness: too many films a year. This increases budget as well as loss of film qualities. If they do once a year, their films would shoot up in quality.

No! That is no good news. I wish DreamWorks would keep making 2-3 films a year. They make great movies. I loved Mr. Peabody & Sherman and The Croods. They can make great originals movies. Please don’t give up making movies that we love to watch.

they should really start to clean up their studios. Find a major studio that actually know how to advertise your films properly (marketing has been terrible under Fox and sometimes Universal). and stop churning out films like theyre nothing. stop with the celebrity voices, you gain nothing from it. lower your animation budget. try to make quality films everytime and a very effective marketing campaign (the most important thing imo).
I heard someone that know people in DreamWorks that think Home is gonna flop. If your own workers arent confident at their own works, then the studio is bound to collapse….

not really. Disney doesnt just have princesses u know. if thats just it, they wouldnt be making any money without Tangled or Frozen. but every one of their films have potential franchises (hence why so many keep screaming “SEQUELS” at their faces) and money-makers.
DreamWorks also have Shrek (and Katzenberg seemed to be hinting hes coming back…….) and Kung Fu Panda, which is as great as Dragon franchise, and will definitely make money with Kung Fu Panda 3.

I think there films are doing really good artistically, but not money making wise. You know Disney has their princesses, and Universal (Illumination) has their minions, but all DreamWorks has is Dragons, which while being really good, isn’t as viable of a franchise. Maybe the Boov will change things. I’m really hoping that Home will do really good in both ways.

What a shame! DreamWorks has been producing very high quality films lately with wonderful stories and amazing animation, too bad not enough people are seeing them in theaters..
