Though I STILL haven’t seen all of the animation surprises ’14 had to offer, I must say, it was a really refreshing, diverse, amazing year for animated movies, and it makes me really excited and happy about what’s to come in the next years!!
Especially the diversity and the amount of new studies, on the rise and ready to shine makes me incredibly happy, as I want to find my place in the animation industry, too! (:
To sum up: It was a blast, and I can’t wait for the future movies to come!

IMO, Korra is a good show, but it’s not all that. I would hardly call it ground-breaking. It’s fine, but a little overrated in my opinion, and this spin-off has been pretty disappointing actually.

I agree but I’m more harsh toward it. To me its the prequels compared to the original trilogy.

I wish I shared your opinion too (at least when it comes to the show). I really don’t like LoK, but I do appreciate its efforts to step outside the norm.

It’s funny that you say all that about 2015 because to be brutally honest, 2015 isn’t exciting me the way 2014 did. With the sole exception of Ratchet & Clank, 2015’s slate is packed with films I’d like to see, but none of them are really catching me.

If anything I’m more excited about 2016, where various release date shifts by various companies has resulted in a melting pot of films from a wide variety of genres (Sausage Party, Sly Cooper, Kung Fu Panda 3, Zootopia, Moana, all-animated Smurfs reboot, Kubo and the Two Strings, Ninjago, and Popeye).

But hey, that’s just my opinion. And as always, I’m open to being surprised this year.

If animation has a Breaking Bad equivalent it’s The Legend Of Korra. It’s a singular vision. A tight story. Characters that feel real. It’s a risky show and a watershed for the art form. I think it’s a show of force of what a contained story can do given the right focus. It’s a sign of things to come and I hope we get more creators pushing the boundaries of television the way

The finale was a watershed moment for US children’s television and is in line with animation moving out of its ghetto. I’ve a long post about it on another page, that’s currently pending moderator approval, but a dedicated page about it would be better.

Ah yes, the Lego Movie was another standout, thanks for reminding me! Wow, that seems like a lifetime ago that the film released… Hard to believe it was only this year.
