It is already a ‘classic’ at my house. Arthur Christmas will join the ranks of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Charlie Brown Christmas as a must watch for generations to come.

As for me, I thought it was great. Christmas movies have been in a dark age for quite some time now, giving us shit like Christmas With The Kranks. And then this movie came along. To me, this is one of the best Christmas movies in years, if not the best. It has humor, heart, and smart storytelling, just the kinda thing one could want in a true Christmas classic. Here’s hoping it revives Christmas movies in general.

I LOVE this movie! It has laughs and heart, a smooth art style that separates itself from other Aardman films. As far as animated Christmas projects that have been made lately, this is one of the better ones. I think it will become a classic!

In all honesty, I’ll be the first to mark myself as being among the minority and say that I didn’t like Arthur Christmas all that much. There was just something about it that lacks the charm that made Aardman’s past films memorable. It didn’t do anything unique with the myth of Santa Claus and its attempts at humor ranged from lukewarm to downright terrible.

Again, I’m in the minority here. But I just simply don’t get why others have taken a shine to the movie. So I certainly don’t think that it will become a classic.
