Well an 88 on rotten tomatoes is really good for a non musical. And its also the highest rated Disney film out of the Revival Era on Metacritic and IMDb. While it may not hit with the critics but the people seem to love it. Let alone it'd also the highest box office opening for a non musical Disney has done and its also the second largest opening for Disney

The critics seem to agree so far - I've seen 4 total reviews for it on RT, 1 positive and the other 3 are quite negative. I was kind of wondering how it would stack up against Big Hero 6, since a good portion of critics weren't blown away by that one (even a number of positive reviews were a bit mild), and might be more pleased with a straight-up slapstick comedy over the heartstring-tugging Disney film (e.g. some critics preferred Despicable Me 2 to Frozen, which was better received than Hero anyway), but Penguins might just end up being a dud - I personally thought it looked kind of amusing, but that's just me.

I like to think that this year we got to see a lot of diversity when it comes to animation. We saw some (if not a lot) of cgi animated films along with a stop-motion film from Leika, and traditional animated films from Ghibli and Toon Saloon with the Song of the Sea. We also saw heroes that came in all shapes in sizes and them being the type of people you'd not expect to see as the big heroes but ended up saving the day anyways thanks to their own virtues. Really I want to see more animations come out like this and hope people will give the little guys a chance.

I would usually be the one to wait till there's 2 movies released in the same month and then I'll see a double feature. But if there is a film I was interested in and then I doesn't fit my taste then I'll just see one. A good example is Big Hero 6. I have the film 4 times cause its that good. But every time I see a Penguins trailer, it really irratates me, because while I love them in Madagascar I hate them in the standalone. They are just not funny.
