From strictly an animation standpoint he was handled light years beyond the other characters (who were VERY often off-model and rather sloppy). I’d say, for me, Rasputin was the only reason I survived that cursed film with a shred of my sanity left, and even then it was only a SHRED because the horrific design choices in Anastasia left me (literally) screaming in fury at the TV while the credits rolled. Great design, great animation, great voice work… A classic character lost in a sea of animation muck.

Yes, he is 100% Fox. There’s a running joke among the Rotoscopers about how everyone thinks Anastasia is Disney, so this was meant to be ironic.

Yeah Rasputin was too different in tone than everything else that was in Anastasia. It was like he fell into the wrong movie..I think they should’ve gone with a more realistic version. He’s a pretty unique character, it just wasn’t right for the film.
