I agree with you about Bolt. I wish it got more appreciation, and I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks Miley Cyrus playing Penny wasn’t a good idea. She’s the only person I don’t think was perfect for the voice role in the movie, and for me that’s the only Disney voice casting in the Revival era that wasn’t a perfect fit. John Travolta, however, was awesome.

Speaking of modest, I’m mystified by the fact that the current US poster for BH6 is still the “putting armor on Baymax” teaser-trailer gag that was released way back in May/June. Disney’s US posters often haven’t been nearly as great as the international ones (e.g. Frozen), but it’s almost underselling the film TOO well – where are the other 4 heroes?

A shout-out to another film in the canon that gets overlooked when its’ compared to the “Disney Revival”: Bolt! I feel that this film doesn’t get appreciated as much because it was released in 2008, but John Travolta does a great job voicing the lead character. But in my opinion, Miley Cyrus should NEVER have been cast for the role of Penny Forrester. They probably reget that decision now…

One of those tweets that came out a few weeks ago from the first people to see the full film said “it was kind of weak, a bit too Saturday Morning”, which I sort of had the impression of from that first full trailer (the police office scene, the bad guy having the big cloak and scary mask), but from Oswald_Incredible00’s post and some of the other things I’ve heard, I think it’s likely to be good and satisfying, if not Frozen-level for most people.

I love that movie! I agree that it’s overlooked, though it *might* not have been mentioned here because although reviews were positive, it didn’t create a ton of “buzz”.
Still, I do love the movie. 😀

Although I thought the scene where Ralph had to smash Vanellope’s car was well-done by itself, it doesn’t work as well as it should have within the entire movie.

It might seem that Ralph wanted to be a hero, but actually he wanted to be seen as one from the characters in his own game. This event would show him that being a hero can be difficult, and Felix’s role of a “hero” in the game isn’t quite as meaningful as looks. Vanellope’s medal would also have more meaning because of this.

Ralph had to make a tough decision, which was good, but the consequences of such a decision doesn’t truly get examined because it turns out his move was the wrong one (even acknowledged in-universe).

The theme of the movie may be that one isn’t defined by their role or anyone else, but I think Ralph’s choice instead being the “right” one can still fit in with that theme.

I still enjoy the movie a lot though, but a small change could’ve probably made it amazing.
