I... don't see a problem with Lord and Miller returning, I'd actually prefer it. Yes, Cloudy 2 was a weak film, and the duo could've come up with a more creative story for it, but they didn't write the screenplay, which might be why it was so lacking. After The Lego Movie, I have confidence that they can make a worthy follow-up. Just wanted to put my 2 cents - I've been a regular Rotoscopers reader for several months, and was surprised at the mixed response to this news.

In reply to <a href="https://www.rotoscopers.com/2014/10/26/phil-lord-and-chris-miller-confirmed-as-writers-for-the-lego-movie-2/#comment-12021">Benjamin Boekelaar</a>.

Nope, you're not. But I do see room for a sequel with a couple of ideas that I would like to see:

1. You know how Wildstyle made that motivational speech about not following the instructions? I can see some of the people in the different LEGO realms not liking the chaotic mess that everyone else has made, and wish everyone followed them like they used to. I also see the possibility of a majority of people becoming master builders because they are overly-creative and the few who lack imagination feel left out. As a result, the squeaky wheel gets the oil, and the people who are few and far between that can't come up with any good ideas start a riot.

2. I also see Finn (the human) feeling lonely because when the film is released, he would be 12 1/2 years old, and while many of the other kids his age wouldn't want to be playing with LEGO stuff because they're "too old" for doing such things. That being said, Finn could get into some of the more complex/sophisticated LEGO product lines that are geared towards older kids/adults such as MINDSTORMS and the Architecture line (the latter of the two is my favorite!) Since the MINDSTORMS lineup contains things such as Bluetooth compatibility, I could very much see Finn using the set to make a cool science project to combat his loneliness.

If the movie flops, at least the tie-in video game will make up for the loss!

Am I the only one who didn't mind Cloudy 2? Sure, it's not as great as the first film but it was still enjoyable.

I really hope Lord and Miller return for Lego Movie 2 though. I love everything these guys touch so it would be great to see them back again.
