This is one of my favorites as kid. But over the years I've noticed some flaws. The biggest one will be the three fairies. Why on earth did they get so much more screen time then the Two Leads?
Worst part is they werent really interesting and kind of came of very annoying. Most of the bad things that happened was their fault. Merriweather insulting Maleficent in the beginning, Them fighting over the dresS, bringing Aurora back to the castle on the night of the curse, and Finding out too late that Philip was the boy Aurora met. Honestly If they werent in the film Aurora and Philip would not have suffered so much.

Sleeping Beauty suffers the same problems as Aladdin. Where the supporting characters get more to do than the leads. The difference is Aladdin gets away with it. Because of two things.

1. The Genie is creatively animated

2. He is voiced by Robin Williams.

I do agree with the podcast that Aurora and Philip were interesting. Which is a shame that we didnt get enough of them and are stuck with the Fairies instead. No wonder Maleficent ended up becoming the breakout character in the film.

Loved the podcast! I couldn't help but laugh out loud when you all imitated the owl when Aurora rejected him when Phillip came into the picture. Really fun.

I get the whole thought of feeling misled about Maleficent being a live action of Sleeping Beauty, but I personally enjoyed Maleficent after I accepted the fact that it was a complete retelling instead. Once you take that aspect of it, the film itself is quite enjoyable.

Also love this episode was over two hours long! I enjoy my time with "the Rotoscopers" and can see myself having nerdy couch discussions with you three whenever I tune in. Look forward to the next as always!

For the record, as long as you dont have the whole trailer in your video, you can have clips and talk about it; you are protected under fair use. You shouldn't be getting flagged and its complete nonsense that it keeps happening. for more info, http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl102.html

"It's not the absence of sound but the presence of silence". What a lovely message and so true.

There's no need for character arc or redemption in this film because the simplicity and elegance carries the story through until the "happily ever after" ending. It is a fairy tale through and through and Disney completely submerges itself into that world; it's crafted carefully and with much love. That's what makes it iconic and everlasting.

Another great podcast! I totally agree about the backgrounds on the film. Your could take almost any frame of that film and frame it to put in an art gallery! It was incredibly animated. And Maleficent really is the Mistress of all evil! She gets snubbed from the baby shower, so what does she do? She crashes the party and curses the poor girl! Diabolical!

Sorry I missed your birthday Chelsea! Happy Belated Birthday!

Can't wait for the Mice and Rats series! Lots of great films in there!

Ironically, this came out the day my family is having my sister's birthday party, whose name just so happens to also be Chelsea and Aurora is her favorite Disney Princess. This would be perfect for her if she was an animation fan. Oh well! Too bad for her!

I know this may sound weird, but I'm surprised that Morgan and Chelsea didn't talk about Aurora's hair more. I always believed one of the secrets to being a Disney Princess is to have impossibly great hair, I mean Aurora just always has great hair. Whether she's asleep or lying "dead" on the floor, she always manages to have great hair. And I was expecting you guys to make a joke about the "Sleeping Beauty Effect" where little girls everywhere would hold a plastic rose in their hands with their hair spread out just like Aurora when she's sleeping on that bed.

Well, weird me aside, great podcast as always! I'm team blue dress, by the way although when I was little I did used to wonder what she would look like in green thanks to Fauna....

Loved this podcast! Sleeping Beauty is my favorite Disney Princess and one of my favorite classic Disney movies. Totally agree with you guys on how her modern Princess design isn't as good as her original design (I'm especially ticked that they left out her charicteristic swirl on the left side of her bangs!). Go team blue!
