>Oh, great! Another 2D purist who refuses to accept CGI.

I don't think that's really fair. I completely "accept" CGI, I just don't think it works with everything. I also don't understand why we are subject to only one style of CGI. At least with the upcoming Peanuts film, they are working to innovate an not give us this same homogenized plastiscine photo-realistic crap. At some point design will be re-welcomed into animation but right now these films all look alike.

Whoa... that looks good, even for test animation! I am NOW excited for this. This is the right type of cartoony sort style for Popeye, though traditional animation would be classically preferred in my opinion...

Oh, great! Another 2D purist who refuses to accept CGI. You do realize that they're trying to create a form of CGI that captures the quality of the hand drawn animation, right? If you are so against the medium, stick with the original show and don't whine about the fact that it's not hand-drawn.

Why are CG filmmakers afraid to use dots for eyes? It just looks weird on Popeye. No arm tattoos, no pipe either. It's a watered-down Popeye. Safe for the kiddies, because the original Popeye made me into a violent, heavy smoker with tattoos all over my body.

This looks amazing! Way to go Sony Animation! I've always been impressed with the animation in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Hotel Transylvania and the animation in this animation test looks once again like a big win for the studio! I can't wait to see more of this project!
