Me too!!! “Is Pixar the next Disney?” “Is DreamWorks the next Pixar?” “Is Disney the next Pixar?” “Is Marvel the next Pixar?” Its such an irritating thing to compare successes.

“Could Athena Studios become the next LAIKA?” Why is that the question you’re asking? In general, I’m not a fan of the phrase, “Is ____ the next ____?” It downplays the achievements of both parties. I hope Athena Studios succeeds but I don’t want them to be a copy – the next – of a studio already making stellar films.

why do stop-motion studios become so creative? their concepts are so interesting and out of this world that only pre-Cars 2 Pixar would think of. Hope they can compete toe-to-toe with LAIKA, and bring balance and diversity to the animation world.

Well, I’m always excited to see new ventures in stop motion animation, and while it’s certainly a bit odd, the concept of this film appeals to me a lot. Just the idea of mermaids in space, maybe swimming with the stars as a backdrop…could be breathtaking.
