"Snowflakes and Glass Slippers" sounds like a wonderful idea! 53 films is a creative challenge and the concept of using photographs of nature, weather, and inanimate alluding to the objects Disney films opens up many possibilities for self-expression. I wish I could see that photo gallery. Good luck, Holly!

We try not to do new releases because we find that there is so much that we miss only having seen the movie once. Yes, there are movies we do on the show that none of us have seen, but they have history that we are able to talk about. Who knows, we may start doing new releases more frequently. But I find the discussion less engaging that our other episodes....

This was certainly an era I like to forget anyway. I was already 20 when this film came out and had no intentions of seeing that stinker on the big screen, but do recall the Wendy's Kids Meal toys being plugged. The analogy that sums up Quest for Camelot is "too many cook's fingers in the broth" or whatever you would put it, to describe the decisions made to basically make what a Hollywood studio deemed "an animated film". Brad Bird once discussed this a few times such as at a discussion panel titled "A Human Story of Computer Animation" at the Computer History Museum in 2005. Basically the conception Hollywood had about animated films tend to pigeonhole it into a "genre" of sorts of being "musical comedies", where you had the heroes and villains, the sidekicks, the "What I Want Song" and the celebrity voices and what-not. Quest for Camelot best exemplifies all those points clearly.

It's for that reason, I felt glad to have waited another year for The Iron Giant when that came out despite it's clunky advertising, because I knew this was a film I wanted.

YES, oh my gosh. It's simple, but I really like it.

Also, the animation's not bad for an international mish-mash of animation studios, but the story... it goes everywhere and really isn't too much exciting. If anything, the titular princess isn't much of a main character; she's more of the catalyst of all the stuff that eventually happens. Also, I remember the hotline ad on the VHS tape to speak to characters from the movie. I'm surprised they still were around back in the early 1990s at all!

I agree with that point of view and try my best not to read/see other's reviews before doing them on my blogs because you almost always get swayed by the other reviewer's opinions, even if subconsciously.
