hey guys I don't know if you take requests for podcasts or anything but recently I was watching the Rescuers for the first time in a while and was wondering what the rotoscopers think of it both in terms of the animation such as the infamous naked lady shot and the story which IMO is quite different and a bit dark by Disney standards with the girl being essential kidnapped for human labouf. Regardless of whether or not you see this or not love your podcasts and how passionate and funny you all are.

I actually saw this movie for the first time around the first time you guys had the poll up for animated movies to feature for the Dinos and Dinosaur movies, so going into it I had no Nostalgia factor at all and I must say, I like it a lot, even more than I probably should. I think it was because of the Circus, I really liked its dark and more mature feel compared to the rest of the film which is pretty goofy and whacky, but still enjoyable.

In fact, I never would have found it if it wasn't for Screweyes' "death" scene, someone who didn't like the movie showed it to me complaining how it was so dark and random, but it's more dark imagery really intrigued me, since you don't really get that in animated movies in the US. After doing some research, I found that the reason for the crows was due to the fact that Screweyes has a fear of crows, this deleted scene explains it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdM5lWUBy9w

So I guess you could say that Screweyes' death represents letting his fears consume him? I don't know, I liked it a lot because of the impact it leaves and how it makes you think about its symbolism, but I kind of dislike how they cut it out of the movie due to test screenings declaring it too dark. It could have made for one of the most mature and thought provoking moments in American Animation but since they cut it out it might just confuse the average viewer like the person I mentioned above.
I also really liked the scene at the end where Louie tells Rex to not kill Screweyes. I feel that a lot of people have this mentality that "It's bad to kill, unless you're killing the bad guy, then go ahead!" but I like how this movie goes to say that killing in general is wrong, even the bad guy and how in the end the villain is the reason for his own "death" rather than the hero. I give this movie 3/5 stars.

While I can see the obvious flaws this film has now that I'm older, I still can't help but enjoy We're Back! It was one of those childhood films that demanded to be played over and over again until even my parents were hearing "roll back the rock till the dawn of time" in their sleep! I think I would consider this my animated guilty pleasure more than anything because of the nostalgia factor. But the lessons this movie taught me run deep: cereal makes you smart, drugs make you stupid and standing alone pretty much anywhere is just an invitation for birds to come and eat you. And personally I would have used my time machine to warn against multiple assassinations, tragedies and natural disasters, thereby saving countless lives, but you know, turning dinosaurs smart all to make a few kids happy would probably be a close second :-) 3/5 stars
