That sounds very genuine and not overdoing, which I really respect. I get how Brave and MU are kind of different than what people would expect, and I ended up liking them, but I get that. I understand the rest too, and sounds honest, which doesn’t bother me.

In my opinion, I felt like Cars 2 was more of a Dreamworks movie, no disrespect to the studio. It had good points and had some funny moments, but it wasn’t at the level at some of Pixar’s other movies, like Up and Toy Story. Dreamworks has made some excellent movies, like Shrek and httyd, but most of their movies are mainly just good laughs, and thats how I felt Cars 2 was: a good laugh but not an amazing movie. On Brave and MU, those were defiantly let downs. Brave didn’t live up to it’s hype and kinda bored me. It was still a good movie, but I felt Wreck It Ralph should have gotten that oscar. MU in my opinion was just sad. All Mike ever wanted to be in life was a good scarer, and everyone else except for him became one, then he got kicked out of his dream college and it just didn’t make me feel good after i saw it.

A thought: Overhauling The Good Dinosaur isn’t a bad sign for Pixar. From reading Catmull’s book, it’s evident that Pixar sees a huge change or overhaul in a production as a good thing (just read about all the story problems they had with Toy Story)…as long as they find the story flaws early on, that is.

I see what you’re saying about the writers and the user-submitted posts, so I get how it works now. And true, I haven’t seen that many of those articles I suppose. And I hope it’s clear that I know any writer can still own any opinion and write it. Congratulating any of the studios is always nice. Just, if it’s a repeated thing with disappointment, maybe it doesn’t have to be said all the time, although I get that only each individual writer has control over that. Nothing has to be done for me or anyone else, but that was just my opinion I was finally comfortable with sharing, and I was kind of glad a few people could relate.

I did not read this article as Pixar bashing at all. It was more of a thoughtful perspective of the highs and lows of the studio (EVERY studio has had them, whether you want to acknolwege them or not and even if the “lows” were actually highs for other studios) and where it’s going in the future.

This is just the opinion of one of fans (notice it is a user-submitted post, which anyone can submit if they spend the time to write up an article). It contains his opinions and not the collective opinions of all the writers. Many of us have different opinions on the subject of Pixar.

Also, articles like this aren’t THAT common here. They are pretty rare compared to most of the news stories and other opinion articles. I think people think they are common because they are the ones people pay attention to the most because it’s from one of the most high profile studios–Pixar. We’ve written quite a lot of articles about the state and future of other studios, but they just don’t get the attention or notice because most people choose not to read them (not saying you, just in general most readers).

But that’s the great thing about it, we all have opinions about the state of various studios (not just Pixar) and this site and comments are a place to share them.

I’m actually ok if the Monsters Inc franchises doesn’t continue. It’s amazing, but not one that I have keep seeing live on in shorts and other films.
