The original book is quite violent–in a good way–with Mowgli having to fight quite a few threatening animals and not just waving around a stick on fire. It’s a compilation of several different adventures including a treasure temple like in the 90’s live-action film and people in a village who temporarily adopt Mowgli but he has trouble fitting into society.

At first I wasn’t ecstatic to hear this, especially on the heels of the new Disney version, but if this one is anything like the original material by Rudyard Kipling, I’ll be very pleased.

Yeah, that’ll be an interesting take on it.

I actually read ‘The Jungle Book’ years ago, although I barely remember it.

With this not being Disney we might have a chance of getting a real adaptation of The Jungle Book. Spoiler Alert it will be darker and not so sugar coated.
