Someone posted this on pinterest about Robin Williams as the Genie and there’s a lot of truth to it “This role WAS Robin Williams. He devoted his life to entertaining and granting wishes for others, even though depression was his lamp that he felt trapped in….”

Ok rotoscopers, I am about to get personal and I might even cry while typing this comment. Robin Williams definitely had a huge cultural impact in all our lives. As you know, I am a Disney fan. And the one Disney movie that to me holds a special place in my heart is Aladdin. The reason is that my brother (who is disabled) watched that movie so many times and his favorite scenes were the scenes with the Genie. Friend Like Me was my brother’s favorite song and still is to this day. Without Robin William’s talented performance as the Genie, my brother would of never heard that song and I wouldn’t see that great smile on his face. So I do thank Robin Williams for bringing that song and character to life to cheer up my brother.

I just went to see Aladdin on Broadway, and hearing these news makes it more shocking. I was bawling when I was told he died, he was part of my childhood and I just feel sick of thinking he’s dead now. “Genie, you are free now…”
Fortunately, my 10-year-old Chihuahua Kitty came and licked my tears. I felt much better after that. But Robin McLaurin Williams will forever stay here with me.
*I’m teary-eyed now writing this*

EDIT: He reminds me of Caproni in “The Wind Rises”, and I may watch Aladdin later on.

I am just crying still from last night to find out, I mean, he was responsible for my happiness in my childhood as Genie and other films and I guess I like to think about his death like this
