Guess we’ll never know for sure! I really think it’s a story that resonates with the current world view, though. I think if it had released 30 years ago it would not have found nearly the same audience, much in the same way that if Bambi was released today it would likely flop because of how fast-paced our society has become.

Frozen was released in a lot of markets, some before the holiday season, some after it. It achieved huge levels of success in all. I think even with a different release date, it could’ve still become the massive phenomenon its become. In Japan it was released mid-March, half a year after the original debut. Yet based on population, that was its most successful market having 10 million dollar weeks at the box office three months later. In the US, the film was on track for another $20 million more before being cut short by the DVD release. Frozen is a movie that moved well past its target audience, into adults, teens, the working class. It’s got a timeless feel to it, so I honesty think that the film would resonate the same way for a different generation and a different time.

Agreed 100%. The heart of the first was lost, the side characters were uninteresting, the one major plot twist was spoiled in the trailers, the other plot twist was completely unnecessary…

I loved the first, I just REALLY didn’t like the second. It had interesting animation but that’s it. 😛

I agree. I had been REALLY excited to see it and left the theater feeling really disappointed.

I’ve watched HTTYD, and yes, its amazing! But the heartfelt moments between Elsa and Anna are just so warming, I’d take Frozen over any other animation.
